Exploring Mansions
Part 2 of 3
Mansion Number two of three from our late November trip was such an incredible and original find. I am sure I say that often as a lot of these locations are brimming with personality however this place was very different than any other abandoned mansion I have explored before. I was given the lead to this spot from a fellow explorer and did no research prior to the trip, knowing what to expect takes a tiny bit of the thrill away so I wanted my friends and I to be totally surprised, and that we were. We pulled up to one of the biggest houses I’ve ever been inside. 3 to 4 floors high and countless rooms to see and the best part, a giant indoor pool on ground floor! It was beautiful in all its decay and glory, above the pool was once a living room like area complete with fire place but due to what i assume was fire almost the entire floor was gone and the fireplace creeping ever so closely to the edge ready to fall into the pool below. The architecture of the interior showed that it had gone through some renovations over the years, originally built in 1945 as a multi family home it was eventually converted into an adult care facility .There was a kitchen with books and VHS tapes piled up high, another room contained only a couch toaster and corded phone along with a verity of Time magazines dated to the 1970s. I love finding old magazine and newsprint intact enough to help date the location. Some rooms on top floors were a little sketchy to get to, we had to walk across the exposed floor beams and planks of wood to get to certain parts of the house but as long as you step careful and explore with friends who could pull you out of the floor if indeed you fall through than I think its safe enough. I would be here for hours trying to describe all the rooms in this place but that is why I take 1000 pictures so you don’t have to read a book on the topic, you can see it all for yourself! There was one minor hiccup that day, upon attempting to head out to the next location of the day we found that the only keys to the car had been lost somewhere in or around this giant mansion so we climbed back in a second time a scoured the building double checking every room. Luckily we did find them after awhile in an obscure pile of leaves (they had fallen out while climbing in the window) so with minor crisis averted and we were off another 15 min down the road to finial stop of the day.
